Mosquitoes can detect carbon dioxide up to 162 feet away; so the more people exhale, the more attractive they become. Also to note, these insects are attracted to our heads because human beings exhale carbon dioxide through their mouth and nose, which explains “mosquitoes buzzing about the ears all night”.
